ARGH, I'm so inspired by Cas/Hannah that I keep trying to come up with some kind of related episode tag, but as I felt about S2-S3, everything I want to have happen is already happening, so I just want to revel in the joy of letting someone else create exactly what I want to see. :-D

I wish they'd make them weirder and more stilted, Hannah's angelicness more alien, but it's still pretty good, and I LOVE seeing how far Cas has come in understanding how humans behave by putting him with an angel and hearing his insightful explanations of human motivation: "... so that they don't have to talk about something they can do nothing about." Aww ....

Even Hannah's terrible clothes (the pants, mainly) are growing on me, because like any angel, it wouldn't occur to her to change her vessel's clothing once she's possessed her, and evidently her vessel had incredibly bad taste ....
Title: Position of Authority
Author: [livejournal.com profile] brightly_lit
Rating: R
Pairing: Dean/Cas
Characters: Dean, Cas, Sam
Genre: romance, angst
Word Count: 10,300
Summary: College professor Dean tries to convince himself his tender feelings for his student Cas are only as teacher and mentor, especially when he finds out Cas comes from a sheltered Amish background. But Sam's ornery machinations to get them together have more results than he even intended.

This was written as a pinch hit for spn_reversebang for remivel's prompt. Here is the link to her art masterpost. This is truly a collaborative effort, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] remivel's great art and prompt, and also due to the contributions [livejournal.com profile] septembers_coda made, not only betaing but also helping me write the latter half. (If it weren't for her, I doubt Dean and Cas would ever have made it to the bedroom, since porn is not my forte!) They deserve at least as much credit for this fic as I do. Hope you enjoy!

[livejournal.com profile] septembers_coda asked for art from me for one of her stories for a Christmas present. I was actually a visual artist before I was a writer, so I have experience, but after a couple of awkward attempts to make some fanart, I felt utterly unconfident about it. We’re buddies irl and I knew she would be supportive no matter what I turned out, so I happily accepted the assignment ... especially since I really love the story she wanted the art for, “Sleeping Beauty,” and I felt like it had a lot of potential for great visual elements to work with. I’ll be talking a lot about the fic in this post, so if you want to read it without being spoiled, now’s the time, and here’s the link! Then you can come back here and read about how I did the art.

All about Stanford. )

Putting Sam back at Stanford. )

Cas and sculpture. Also, guess what? The sun don’t shine in Supernatural. )

Tattoo you, or, the freakin’ hardest image of the bunch. )

I have deep reasoning behind all my design elements. )

Eels. Yes, that’s right, EELS. )
Another surprisingly lovely outing from Ross-Leming and Buckner, beautifully directed, with stellar effects. Plus, we got Cas! I liked nearly all of it, aside from all the boring angel-war stuff. The "wars in heaven" haven't gotten more interesting with time, perhaps because we never actually SEE any of it ... not that that would probably make it more interesting, but hearing about these VERY IMPORTANT BATTLES--TRUST ME, THEY'RE WAY IMPORTANT for three solid seasons is wearing thin.

And of course it was terrible to see Kevin die (SURE am glad I had the spoiler on that one, or I'd have had a much harder time enjoying the episode after the fact), but at least his death was meaningful, and seeing Dean's reaction, after everything he's put poor Kevin through ... you kind of couldn't see another end for the kid. (And maybe the writers were out of ideas for the character.) His life sucked, hunted and terrorized by demons and angels (and Dean) alike. Kevin said it himself--he was working so hard because he HAD to get out of being a prophet, but there's no way out of being a prophet. A tragic end, sort of Sam and Dean's story in microcosm, of suffering and herculean effort and finally a redemptionless death. (I'm hoping for a happy ending for Sam and Dean, though, so maybe we can see this in Kevin and NOT have to see it in Sam and Dean, however likely an end it may be for them.)

Otherwise, I thought it pulled together a lot of confusing stuff we've been seeing all season quite nicely, especially the Ezekiel stuff. I kept wondering why Jared's acting seemed so off sometimes all season, but then knowing the spoiler also that Gadreel says Sam's "been gone for a long time," it made perfect sense and all came together here as in the first scenes I was like, "HE'S NOT ACTING LIKE SAM AT ALL--oh, riiiiiight." I mean, have we ever heard of an angel retreating behind a vessel's consciousness, or of a vessel being able to eject an angel at any time? Nooo, it's pretty much the vessel's the angel's to do with whatever it pleases as soon as it gets in, so this rather gracefully addresses those issues in retrospect.

Metatron's his deliciously devious self, Cas is his adorably righteous self ... and oh Cas, if you didn't think your reputation among angels could get any worse, you managed it. This development opens things up for a potential Theo/Cas amalgam that could be quite interesting in that we could see Cas do bad, unrighteous things that come in some part from his own motivations instead of pure-evil leviathans making him act entirely out of character.

I'm SO GLAD Gadreel is a deeper character than just plain old bad, and I love love love the parallels between him and Sam: their father's favorite, locked up in a life and with a reputation they don't deserve but couldn't escape, led ever further down a questionable path by the only person they have faith might be able to deliver them back to purity.

I really loved it. YAY, a very nice note on which to end the first part of the season before the hiatus!
Needless to say, there will be 9.03 spoilers in this post!

I was dreading 9.03. There were SOO many things I wanted it to be, and I was sure it would fall down on all of them, and instead ... it was everything I wanted and more! YAAAAAY!!!!!

SOO many situations ripe for Cas's ... Casness, for humor and tragedy and everything in between.

Plus, the difficulty of being human is one of my favorite Cas themes (as you might have noticed in my fic!), and they went deep into that in this ep--it was like a fanfic come true! (With even a not-so-subtle Destiel moment there at the end, "I always enjoy our ... time together, Dean." Yeah? Tell us more about this 'time together' that never happens onscreen, Cas ....) Great ideas, great acting, lots and lots of Misha. I am glad I had all the spoilers so I wasn't overly dismayed when April turned out to be evil and Cas was booted from the bunker. OH, CAS!!!!!

I also have to mention a little detail I haven't seen anyone else mention. So Cas is in the bathroom at the beginning, clearly unaware of the basics of how to take care of his body, as he squirts toothpaste into his mouth (... and eats it?!), but then he takes his toothbrush--which he CLEARLY DOES NOT KNOW IS USED FOR CLEANING ONE'S TEETH--into the bathroom stall with him to do ... what, exactly? When it comes to Cas, it's surely best not to ask. A most entertaining little detail. Reminds me of a mentally ... unusual guy (among many) at a job I once had helping people with mental disabilities, and his self-cleaning habits, but ... you probably don't want to know.
When Misha got the script for 9.01, you know he HAD to know there would thereafter be (mostly) naked pictures of him all over the internet. Sucks for Misha (or, who knows, maybe he's into that kind of thing), but lucky for us.

You're welcome.

Just saw 9.01 and loved it. And wow, my previous two posts sure did get jossed a lot, occasionally more or less word for word .... Ah, well; I always seem to find my way to the same wavelength with the writers. Consider this a blanket warning that any of my future fics (now that I'm keeping up with the show in real time) may end up spoily.

So apparently Sam really DOES only want death. And is his request for assurance from Death that he STAY DEAD the whole reason he didn't look for Dean when he "thought he was dead"--Sam assumed that Dean must feel the same way he does and want to stay dead? Makes sense. (I heard Carver said they would continue to go into that issue in the show, yay!) "Sacrifice" was magnificent, and 9.01 was all I would have hoped for out of a follow-up. Hurt!Sam and hurt!Cas and hurt!Dean, oh my! And feels, all the feels! *drooooool*

Loves me some Tahmoh! And ooh, as hurt!Dean scenes go, his angel beatdown was imo one of the BEST. EVER. I may even get to see 9.02 next week on something bigger than a teeny screen!!

I'm not a person who really "ships" anyone. I'm happy reading romantic stuff between pretty much any or none of the characters; it's all good as far as I'm concerned. Recently, however, as I've been reading/seeing more scenes from season 8 (less than a month now before I finally get to see it!!), I've been realizing the one and only thing I ship at the moment is Megstiel. Not like I need them to have this long, intimate relationship; I just really loved the messed-up thing they got going late in season 7, and I would love to see that go wherever it should go. There's something so tantalizing about a fallen angel and a sort of rising demon knowing exactly what the other is and still finding something to love in there ....

Fic: Shards

Title: Shards

Crossover: Supernatural/Princess Tutu

Genre: um ... literary crack!fic? Your guess is as good as mine. Also, teen!chesters, evil!sam, soulless!sam, angst, light romance, high school/boarding school, mystery, hurt/comfort, fairy tale, gen
Characters: Castiel/Princess Tutu-Duck, Sam/Mytho, Dean/Fakir, Ruby/Rue, Bobby/Mr. Cat, Gabriel/Pikae, Balthazar/Liliae, God-Chuck/Drosselmeyer

A fairy-tale-esque retelling of how Sam's shattered soul/mind got put back together, based on the plot of Princess Tutu.

Notes:
There is absolutely nothing normal about this fic (just like there's nothing normal about Princess Tutu), but hey, death to normalcy!

And if a show named Princess Tutu sounds lame to you, give it a chance! It is actually awesome. Needless to say, since I am probably just about the only fan of both shows on the planet, readers will be people who like one of these shows who will give this fic a chance.

Princess Tutu and Supernatural are two of my favorite shows ever in the history of the world. Once I started noticing the similarities between the two shows in terms of plot, theme, and character, I couldn't resist writing this rather psychedelic fic. (Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] septembers_coda for helping me flesh out which characters and plotlines corresponded on each show.) Nonetheless, the differences have prevented me from having to include many, if any, spoilers for either show. Because both shows are so wonderful and similar, I have to recommend each to fans of the other, if Supernatural fans can tolerate ballet and Tutu fans can tolerate horror, weaponry, and lots and lots of dick jokes.

There's no particularly deep reason why Cas is a girl here. Castiel in angel form is genderless, and Princess Tutu/Duck is a girl, so it just made sense. It ended up working well for the story; plus, it's hilarious casting Gabriel and Balthazar as petty teenage girls. ;-)

Wanna try Tutu? Here you go: http://www.hulu.com/princess-tutu
Wanna try Supernatural? It's not hard to find. Maybe someone will even be kind enough to leave a link in the comments ....

Once upon a time ... )
After five LONG entries in my Destiel series, I've built up a lot of thoughts I have on it and things I want to say, so that's what this entry is:

I just posted part 5 (!) of my Destiel romance series, which has now burgeoned to the length of a short novel, and I'm not out of ideas yet! It's not a popular series by any means, alas, but I just love it. I love the love between the characters--not just Dean and Cas, but the friendly and familial love between every character. Sometimes in my other stories, I delve into the great darkness that lies at the heart of part of the canon, but this series lingers a lot in that lightest, happiest part, especially between Sam and Dean. I love the idea of Sam and Dean finally getting to retire from hunting and live a happy, normal life. I love exploring how much Dean especially sucks at being normal, and his uncertainty whether he really wants to be. Cas has always been one of my favorite characters. Oddly enough, in my other fics, he often never appears at all or is cast in a fairly negative role (such as shifty!Cas from season 6); thus, my Destiel series is where I get to really delve into all his most delightful, humorous qualities.

In this fic particularly, but in this whole series, I get to explore the angel mythology and add my own ideas to it. I was, briefly, a religious studies major. Studying mysticism and religion has been a life-long fascination for me, which gets an outlet in this series. Writing this fic was especially satisfying, getting to address issues I had with the direction the show took with the angels as discussed in this post and write angels closer to the way I'd have liked to see them written, in my Michael character. I feel like it was kind of a cop-out on the part of the show's writers to make the angels (especially the first ones: Uriel and Zachariah, sometimes Raphael) such dicks. I really wanted to make Michael as much of a problem as he is on the show, but also sympathetic in his own way, where you could see where he was coming from, so that stuff was fun and satisfying to write.

As I mentioned in the notes to the story, I stay as canon as I can, considering this is an alternate universe. I understand some people's aversion to AUs--I thought at first that I wouldn't like them, either, but once I read a few, I found I liked them--just as long as the characters remain the same; when they don't, I can't understand why they didn't just write something original, since they went ahead and made up a new character for their story. Castiel, for instance, as a human man, would make a fascinating character, but I've seen him so often portrayed in AUs as very human and nothing like his character on the show, usually just a little wiser than others.

Here there be spoilers, so read the fic before you read the rest! )

Notes:

-I love all the hunters, so they're alive in this version.

-I'm a big fan of canon, so besides the hunters all being alive, I adhere to canon as much as I can in this series while still telling the tale. The characters are all their same old selves. Plus, even where I diverged from canon, I like to make it come back around as much as possible.

-This is part 5 in a series, quite possibly the final part, though I've said that before and I really love Dean and Cas's relationship in this series, so who knows. I've carefully written every story in the series so that it could stand on its own. With this story, I think I managed to include all the facts (which is getting harder after five stories' worth of growth and events), but the one thing I can't communicate by "throwing in an explainer" is why and how much they love each other. Thus, you might like to read at least one of the other installments in the series first:

Human
Union

The latest, and probably last, entry in my Destiel saga, in which Cas and Dean finally get married. Read it here! It's good. Really! An emotional rollercoaster, but fun, and very funny in parts ....
Title: He Gripped Him Tight Down There
Author: [livejournal.com profile] brightly_lit
Rating: PG-13 for language, innuendo
Characters: Sam, Dean, Cas
Pairings: Um ... all, and none.
Genre: Humor, crack, spoof
Warnings: Subtle but racy innuendo, so ... just like the show.
Word Count: 1,200
Disclaimer: Not mine, and if they were, look what I would do to them!

Summary: My first time through the series, I didn't see all the Destiel and other subtext; I just thought Cas and Dean had a baffling, highly dysfunctional friendship. But once I started seeing all that subtext, I CAN'T STOP SEEING IT. I've grown convinced the writers ship these characters at least as hard as the fans do. Some moments are particularly outrageous. So this story is my only-slightly-less-subtle-than-the-show spoof of all that stuff in the series. The title refers to Cas having gripped Dean tight down in hell, of course. ;-) Enjoy!

Here is another Destiel slightly pornographic story for your reading pleasure. Things get pretty intense in this story, sexually and romantically, but if you like that kind of thing (as I do), you'll like this story, I hope. Enjoy!
