Devastating. :( But I do believe that when Dean has time to really think, he can let go of Sam. I really believe it was the lack of that time at the end of Season 8 that resulted in shutting down the trials, and also making the deal with "Ezekiel." I love that in this story Dean chose what he thought was best for Sam. Breaks my heart, though.
