I had a similar experience with kintsugi--a friend posted about it on Facebook and it really struck me deeply, so when I was casting around for a title for this fic and I thought of it, it seemed ideal.
It's fun to hear where people figured out it was Sam. I especially love that you went back right then to see if it would fit with the dialogue and descriptions! :-D
In fact, this fic wouldn't let me go, so I AM writing a sequel. This fic felt like just the tip of the iceberg in getting at Sam's experiences and their consequences, and his and Dean's relationship, and most especially all the emotions inherent in the setup, and I just couldn't help but really go into all that stuff. Even as I was writing this fic, I felt like it was only the beginning, but I really wanted to get this fic done and posted! And there's SOO much there. So, the sequel will be way longer as I explore each facet. (And I too really wanted to see some healing ...) I'm also kind of hoping maybe someone else will feel inspired to write something in this 'verse.
