I was about to go to sleep when this was posted, and then I was like WAIT I GUESS I WILL POSTPONE THE SLEEP THING JUST A SEC, SLEEP, BRB.
Brief digression, but once my cousin was trying to convince someone that her family was totally not redneck, when at that exact moment her brother texted her, "Dad found out about the possum I was hiding in the garage and he made me set it free :(" Damning evidence, that sadface. XD But I'm in full agreement about the coyotes; both in the Bay and in San Diego my residences backed up against hills/canyons, so coyotes were ever-present; their yipping was even my sister's ringtone for a while.
The tag scene to this is so cute. <33 As is, of course, bb!Sam, my Achilles heel forever and ever. Not that he's technically the bb part of bb!Sam, I guess, but you know what I mean. And I love this passage, as I gather others will, too, because it's such a standout:
“They’re monsters,” Sam hissed, and turned to give Dean a long, long look. Dean saw all kinds of things in his eyes. He saw the cage. He saw the humans they’d killed, the monsters they’d let go. He saw the echo of idealistic young Sammy, ground away over the years, and he knew this was a fire still barely smoldering in his brother that Dean just couldn’t let die.
It's just a lovely, emotive progression of images, made all the more poignant by the fact that, Dean, baby, you have no idea. You have no idea how many more years there are to go.
