Hellsing sounds cool! I'll have to ask my anime buddy about it ...
I can get you into anime! I love anime!! You want recs, I'll give you recs. What kind of thing are you into?
Ping Pong is good just because it's such a well-made show, so effortlessly creative. The animation itself is pretty ugly, but very arty, and the story and voice acting and all are fantastic. It's about two childhood friends who both excel at ping pong in different ways (one of them is quite asperger's, which makes him an unusual and interesting character) and their paths to success. Gah, it's just so good!! It's all about the relationships, ambition or the lack of it, competition, overcoming your fears; it just feels very true to life in the interactions.
Ah yes, I know all about fear of the so-called "real world." My brother took ten years to get his Ph.D. because of it! I've met a bunch of people who are pretty straight-up about that fear and wanting to stay in school, but gah, it's so nice to go home from your job and just have your own life to live without worrying about homework or figuring out how to play to a teacher's particular demands, etc. So no, it doesn't sound weird! But I think you'll like being done with school. Plus, then you can find a job you actually really, truly like instead of having to take classes whether you like them or not. Not to mention, munny! I always liked working so much better than school because you're valued at work for doing good work rather than for how cool or socially capable or whatever you are. I thought of the "real world" after college as scary, too, but in retrospect, I think college was scarier. :-) I'm eager to see where you go in your life. <3
