You had me guessing the whole way through how it was going to go--and left me still guessing, because I can't quite rule out any of the possibilities you list here. And on the one hand, I really kind of want Sam and Dean to get payback, but also not, because emotional damage is kind of inevitable from killing a couple of plain ol' humans....
Open-ended is probably the best way you could have left is, because it allows me to have all my cake and eat it too. :P
