YES. I felt like 12.6 FINALLY touched on giving us a little of that outsider POV of all Sam and Dean have accomplished, a TEENY bit of the recognition they deserve, but STILL NOT ENOUGH, so I wanted to flesh that out more in a fic. Show has been going on so long now, and the Winchesters' accomplishments are so incredible and storied--at least for fans--it only makes sense that they would be beginning to become so among hunters and anyone in the know, too, and I am SO THERE FOR THAT. I would love to see Show get WAY more into that.
(from the reader's perspective--I imagine from Sam's it was a low-key version leading up to a much worse session of more of the same)
Lol--yes, this is exactly what I imagined, too. It was also fun as a writer to cast Lucifer as a kind of inadvertent good guy, opening up lines of communication within the Winchester family, telling secrets that needed to come out ... and honestly, I think on a certain level Lucifer even meant it that way. He knows Sam, and all the Winchesters, knows what they need, and as long as it also serves his purpose, maaaaybe he even has enough resemblance to a feeling of warmth for his vessel to throw him a bone (as long as he can also torture him while doing it, of course).
That image of being stripped bare and rendered discomfittingly transparent is something I love very much but don't see often (and even more rarely, see successfully).
