Hm, well, even statistically speaking, it looks like dreamwidth really IS the best place for fandom.

I happened across this page on feedly.com, which appears to automatically aggregate information--in this case, the "Best Fandom Blogs and Websites." In addition to results from AO3 and a few from lj, as well as a couple of independent blogs, 8 of the top 20 results were from dreamwidth! Woot!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I really love dreamwidth as a platform. It offers just about everything I could want from a fandom blog site. Between that and knowing the folks in charge are firmly dedicated to providing a place to host fannish content, dw is feeling like a really nice place to have made my fandom home.

Hee!

I'm honestly surprised by LJ still being significantly represented in that top 20!

That is definitely a curious set of results. It seems to be less a matter of popular blogs than accounts that have RSS feeds subscribed to via feedly (because AO3 clearly is not a blog) which are classified as fandom ones.

So what that tells me is that fans who use feedly are primarily interested in staying up to date with LJ-diaspora people and events. Particularly strange are the AO3 tag feeds at the end. I'm baffled as to how these accounts get ranked since some with fewer followers are higher up on the list than some with more. Clint/Darcy is most definitely not a more popular pairing than Derek/Stiles!

Perhaps that says more about the demographic that uses Feedly and about the nature of the sites that people want to read via Feedly than it does about where the fandom is most active. As far as I can see from my current fandom position, Tumblr still has the top spot.
