In your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them.



This is the coolest challenge. All right.

Well, first, I have to rec spn_bunker! It's everything I hoped it would be and more, because all the cool kids hang out there. I LOVES ME MY BUDDIES OVER AT THE BUNKER! New friends are always welcome.

Next, I'll rec spn_summergen, for personal reasons. The night that started all this fic-writing, delving into fandom, ALL THE EVERYTHING, I typed three simple words into the google: "supernatural fic recs." I found a couple of rec pages that recced pretty good stuff (which I returned to compulsively over the next few weeks, mining pretty much all they had--it's my hope that The Hunt weekly rec post at the Bunker will be a similar resource for others new to fandom and fanfic, so I can give back in that way). In any case, I guess one of these reccers had participated in summergen and thus a great many of her recs came from it one year, so I looked into summergen and thought it seemed like the coolest thing ever. It was totally the wrong time of year for it, so I joined it when I made my lj so I could be sure not to miss out. I participated this past summer, and it was all I hoped. Such a cool, cool challenge. I made some great lj friends there, too, and read some GREAT fics ....

I'm so happy I found this website, which most of you probably already know about, but if you don't, they have gajillions of screencaps from every episode, which has been incredibly useful in modding the Bunker, especially for the early-episode reaction posts. The bunker is a lot of fun. I love the open letters and the rec post and just everything.

And summergen. I've been around for a while and this was only the second year I participated. Took me that long to get my nerve up! It was a LOT of fun and the fic it produces is always so outstanding.

I love all the weekly events at the bunker, too! I'm really looking forward to the remix, too; I think people are probably suffering writing-challenge fatigue right now, with RBB and J2 Xmas and all, but I'd like to do that there as soon as it seems like people are ready to get back into challenges.

Yeah, there is something intimidating about summergen, isn't there?? It reads like a who's who of all the major fic writers, but your name seemed right at home there to me. :-)

spn_summergen is my #1 favorite challenge ever; it's the only one I've participated in every year I've been in SPN fandom. I don't remember how I found it, but I imagine it must have been by a similar method. <3

And spn_bunker is such a great safe haven! Fandom needed one of these a long time ago. I'm sure they've had a few over the years, now defunct or whatever, but this one's ours. Which means it's the best one, natch!

Being new I've not heard of summergen so I'm super excited to try that this year, work permitting.

Also, yay for screencaps!! I had not seen this and am so happy you recced it as I'm always searching for images from the show to jog my memory about stuff so Thank You!!! x

Ooh, good idea. I'll have to think on the best way to go about it. Maybe just a "resource" tag, and then any time someone comes across one, they can make a new post and tag it with that?

Will that work better than a sticky post?
I know from my pov, I find websites that may be helpful for dialogue or technical stuff that I'd like to share, but I'd also like to know what challenges are worth doing or places to go that are ship-neutral or whatnot.
Anyway, I'm glad you think it's worth looking at : ) x
