brightly_litA wee drabble (well, 150 words) for the S10 Episode Tag thing various people are doing--this one’s for 10.2.
Title: The Best There Is
Warnings: None
Summary: Every hunter knows the Winchesters are the best, right?
Sam double-checked the demon traps in the dungeon before answering his phone on speaker, since his hands were full of silver chains and holy water.
“Winchester? Bart here. I got wind of somethin’ big-- something about a Mark of Cain and a human turned demon. I figured if anybody’d know anything ’bout it, it’d be you.”
Sam glanced back at Dean, who had murder in his eyes. “Crowley had a better attitude,” Sam hissed to him. Dean’s expression grew still more malevolent.
“Um ... yeah,” said Sam, turning back to his conversation. “Yeah. Already got it.”
“You did? Holy shit, daddy was right--the Winchesters’re the best there is.”
Sam looked back again to see Dean smiling this time. There was something in the smile that had been Dean all along, and something else that Dean had tried so hard to keep from being there, or maybe they were the same thing. Sam found himself smiling back.
