"Your favorite SPN related song and your favorite song right now + X-mas song that signalize that X-mas is coming :)"

Favorite SPN-related song. Well, this is kind of far-fetched, but my favorite song ("Give Me a Beat") on this crazy mash-up/sampled/rap/pop CD my sister sent me begins with good ol' "Renegade" by Styx, which is SOOO great in "Nightshifter," so I always have happy associations with SPN whenever I hear that song start.

Too, I LOVE "Turn Into Earth" by the Yardbirds (thanks yet again, Superwiki!). I've never heard anyone talk about it before, but it really struck me in that scene the first time I saw "The Born-Again Identity," and every time I've seen it since. Sitting around the production office, deliberating over "What song do you play, you know, when an angel declared himself God and then got taken over by Leviathans (you know, as they will) and died and lost his memory and has just been told who he really is, which he fully remembers as he kills a bunch of demons?"--I can't imagine that they could have come up with a more perfect song to express the emotions of that scene.

My favorite song right now, eh? Probably "Destroya" by MCR.

The Christmas song that signals Christmas is coming? This one is hard because while once upon a time I found Christmas music really magical, I'm pretty over it now (definitely including that unrelenting, unignorable version of "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" I was pummeled by the last time I went to the store!). I guess I've always had a soft spot for "Let It Snow," which I played piano accompaniment for for my choir in h.s., or a really great version of the "Carol of the Bells."

As always, fun questions, [livejournal.com profile] gorkonelka!

ha, I'm so glad you liked it! That CD is too hardcore rap for me most of the time, but there's something about that one song that's so fun.

Great question!

*giggles* I love this, thanks for sharing hun, that mix is insane but very addictive. And the Yard Birds...yes, everything you said! What to play when all hell is breaking lose and an angel thinks he's God? ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks that mix is insane--my sister acted like it's the most normal thing in the world. (?!) Also, I know she listens to it with her young daughter who loves Disney princesses, which makes the whole thing twice as weird for me ...

Ah, I really enjoyed this post, following the links and all. :-)

That Yardbirds song is so beautiful! And what a great usage in one of my FAVORITE episodes. Such a great montage. I don't remember really noticing the song at the time, but whoever puts the music with the SPN episodes is a genius (usually... I can think of a coupe egregious exceptions). And it's so funny-- the intro to that Styx song is the ONLY part of it I can stand (and I love it in that mix!), but hearing it in that SPN episode, I was like "what an awesome song! I have to go look that up and listen to it all the time!" Umm... no. But such a great musical moment, probably my favorite.

ARGH, Christmas music is a great reason to do all one's shopping online. Never dug Let it Snow that much, but my taste in Christmas music tends toward really choral, classical arrangements, and I agree, Carol of the Bells is perfect for that!

Fun answer, yaaay!

RIGHT? Among other things, I think SPN has really good sound-mix people--somehow they're able to make these songs that don't sound that good on the original albums sound so great. I'm also a sucker for music set to visuals or a story; it makes a song twice as deep for me.

baha, yes, Christmas music is good at driving me out of a store more often than not!
