Happy Birthday, Milly_Gal!

The happiest of birthdays to the gal who's a big part of what keeps us going and having fun around here.
We've been talking a lot about music lately, specifically (early) '80s music and our shared love for it. I was there for it, she wasn't.
So I made this playlist for you, Milly. Imagine you and I and
septembers_coda are all hanging around together sometime circa 1985 and it's a really, REALLY good day on MTV. This is what we would watch:
Or, if you'd rather watch it on youtube:

A few notes:
I know you know your '80s music! So I tried to make this a list of rarer songs so they aren't boringly familiar to you. In most cases, I just picked my very favorite song by the band in question. This is a pretty good sampling of some of the greatest bands of the '80's, imo.
I tried to include the original video, but in a few cases, there wasn't one, or it didn't have the version of the song I wanted (or it was just so bad, I couldn't bring myself to include it :-D). Contrarily, sometimes I included the video BECAUSE it was so bad. That damn Journey video played CONSTANTLY. You wouldn't get the full MTV experience if that wasn't here. (I also wanted to include a Journey song.) The Billy Squier video also showed constantly for a time ... but that's simply a video everyone should see once in their lives, because it's HILARIOUS.
You must think I'm the biggest Talk Talk fan in the world! Actually, I only had three of their albums. It's just that, well, one of those songs is one of my favorite songs ever ever, one has a simply great video I like to go back and watch now and then, and one has one of the worst videos ever, that so bewildered s_c and me back when that we quote it often to this very day. I'll let you guess which is which!
From this playlist, you might also get the impression I was the biggest Police fan in the world! This would be closer to true. ;-) "Don't Stand ... '86" was widely maligned when it came out, but personally I think it's underrated.
I wrote a Psych/SPN crossover fic that mentioned no small number of these bands, BECAUSE I LOVE EARLY '80S MUSIC SO MUCH! If interested, folks can find that fic here. But I didn't include the title song. :-(
I could literally talk for posts upon posts about each of these songs and everything they meant to me, then and now. So if anyone wants to start up a conversation in the comments on such subjects, by all means, do so! I'd love to hear anyone's memories of MTV or their favorite songs of the era or their favorite videos; anything.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MILLY_GAL! I hope you enjoy your gift.

Men Without Hats? Get outta here--I started a religion for them. I could scrounge up Men Without Hats songs 'til kingdom come! But this one never fails to get me groovin. I didn't include the original video, though, because though I watched it in the mornings before school, it's uh ... creepy and disturbing. But kinda hot, because he's hot. But creepy.
