Best moments from VegasCon16

Rich was actually my favorite part of the con. I'm hunting for video of a HILARIOUS ad-libbed song he did Thursday about how guys aren't allowed at the con unless they're footing the bill, which he sang to a guy asking a question. I was laughing so hard I literally cried. I'm coming to feel Rich is less an actor than a genius improv comedian ... though a great actor, too, but improv comedy is a special skill--especially improv song comedy, and it comes naturally to him.

In the meantime, I did manage to find video of an epic rant he went on Friday morning, for which he kind of apologized multiple times during the rest of the con, about how we SPN fans have something wrong with us and think someday we'll get to marry Jared and Jensen--he didn't hold back, but I liked it anyway. (Somehow, he said it all in a really good way.) He included himself in the "we," btw--down to marrying J2. He later told Rob it was because Rob wasn't there to hold him back (Rob didn't arrive until Saturday), and Rich was clearly in some sort of state as he took the stage Friday, feeling angsty it seemed; I liked hearing his unfettered thoughts. Plus, sweet version of "Sympathy for the Devil." I recommend starting at 1:42 when she figures out her camera problem:

Oh, but in my searching, I managed to find the "severed penis" song (Jared's)! Of course this occurred during Misha's panel. First, the lead-up/explanation for how the song came about, but if you just want to be confused, watch the song alone in the second of this pair of videos:

Here is the imo best song from Saturday Night Special: Gil singing and Osric rapping "See You Again." There were lots of musicians on the stage, the sound was rich, and everyone seemed to be digging it and enjoying themselves:

It was cute seeing Rich fanboy over Colin upon discovering he's the voice of Jake from "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" (at the end of this video):

I FINALLY FOUND THE SONG--it's at the very end of Alaina's panel. Start at 42:10. Unfortunately, it's hard to hear the words; I picked the version I found with the best sound, but it's hard to catch them all. Still, I wanted to put it up here in some form, since I've been raving about it FOR THIS ENTIRE POST. And, I'm happy to hear on this video, I wasn't the only one in hysterics.

I may or may not have more to say about the con later. Most of y'all have been to cons and there probably weren't any other great surprises, the whole con is on video, if you have any questions please feel free to ask in the comments. Some panels weren't so good (Alaina, honey, seriously, were you drunk every time you appeared or are you really just like that all the time? because I've seen you in other con videos and you weren't like that), most were definitely interesting and enjoyable, some were fantastic (Kim and Briana, and of course Misha and J2), but other than our terrible photo op with Misha, the con part of our trip was pretty good (except for the rude, mean woman sitting behind us making free to shout unnecessary stuff at fans asking questions and such). Also, virtually none of the fans at the con were Vegas types, which seemed to confuse the stars, expecting us to be partiers, and instead we sat there politely and quietly and enjoyed the show like good girls.

Oh, and I'll leave you with a photo of the shirt Misha wore onstage. This photo doesn't even capture the full extent of the hole(s) ....

No need to apologise for that rant. Fan behaviour IS nuts ☺

RIGHT?? He was just tellin' it like it is. It may be weird, but it's weirdly cool. :-)

One highlight of my Con was meeting you and Septemberscoda!

You are so right that the entire SPN gang were so un-Vegas like. I never even touched a slot machine. There were some GREAT moments at the Con. It wasn't as good as last year for me because my BFF and I had family issues going on back home (and frequent phone calls and issues to deal with), plus Jensen was ill so didn't sing Saturday night, and the high energy infused by Sebastian and Timothy O. was't there. And no JDM! However...I enjoyed the hell out of all the women of SPN who were there, and Rich was hysterical. Mark's panel was a highlight for me, too - the one where he sent out his 10 year old in his place for a long stretch and the kid nailed it. Even though he can be crochety, Mark truly loves the shows and the fandoms, especially THIS show and THIS fandom. Sigh. Dammit. Now I'm having post-Con blues again.

That was a highlight of our con, as well!

I thought it was so funny when they asked if people were gambling/partying and like thirty people cheered, the rest staying silent. It didn't feel like a Vegas show, fortunately.

Man, I wish I coulda seen JDM and Tim O.! I swear there were several guests listed when we bought our tickets who didn't end up appearing by the time the con rolled around.

There's no need to say sorry for the rant, Richard's just being Richard, and it's not like he's wrong ;)
*hugs you* I'm so glad after all the heart lurching of the journey in both directions that you actually did manage to take some good away from VegasCon honey, also, a new and shiny appreciation for home and your life is kinda wonderful (I've started amalgamating yours and S_C's posts in my head, lol, sorry!)
thanks so much for the vids and was Alaina really drunk??

[identity profile] brightly-lit.livejournal.com 2016-03-17 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
SPN fans are the best, because we fangirl like other fangirls, BUT WE'RE SO SELF-AWARE ABOUT IT. We know what we are, we know what we like, we make no apologies.

Our life IS kinda wonderful! Now never to leave it again!

I couldn't figure out what was going on with Alaina. She came out in a ~hot-pants onesie and tried to be sexy and ditzy and flirtatious THE WHOLE TIME, never seeming to realize her audience is made up of women in their 30s and 40s for whom this will do nothing.

Rich drooled all over her the first day, but then the next day when she randomly wandered onto the stage to shill for Louden Swain t-shirts, even Rich was like, "Um, is there some particular reason you're here right now?" He handled it by assigning her a job to do (ushering guests on and off the stage like a model at the Oscars), but even he seemed annoyed/frustrated with her by that point. She did say that for once she was there with just her friend and no kids and that they'd spent the whole time partying, so ... yeah, I'm pretty sure she was. It was embarrassing.

Wow, okay so she was there with friends I kinda get that but DON'T make it a public thing O.o however, still love Alaina, she's a really lovely lass and we all do silly things whilst out with friends ;)

Sometimes we need a quick sharp shock to understand how amazing our world really is ♥

We rule all, I have no shame at being an spn fan. This morning our work handyman at the home asked me where I,was going in May, I told him, he was well impre4ssed, not only that I was honest but I was so psyched! :D

[identity profile] brightly-lit.livejournal.com 2016-03-17 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I can't get behind drinking on the job, even if you are in Vegas and your job only requires you to sit on a stage and talk about yourself for a while. I wish I could have seen what she's like otherwise.

I love being able to be open with people about my fannishness! It seems like the world is finding it more and more acceptable all the time. Good for you for being out and proud! :-D

[identity profile] milly-gal.livejournal.com 2016-03-18 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
I've always been out and proud, it's just only now coming into fashion, lol! I spent a lot of time getting shameful looks and weird eye contact, but hell with it, if it makes us happy who is any one else to judge!!

[identity profile] jj1564.livejournal.com 2016-03-17 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the vid links! Richard is so funny and charismatic, he could be a stand-up comedian - or a fire-and-brimstone preacher! I'm sorry your Misha photo op was terrible, what a shame. And it's a shame Alaina was off-key, she was pretty funny at A14 last year but I only saw her panels with Ruth and Travis, then with Ruth, and they worked really well together. And I love Misha's holey t-shirt!

[identity profile] brightly-lit.livejournal.com 2016-03-27 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you enjoyed! Fire and brimstone--yeah!

It is a shame about our photo op. At least we had a good one at our first con, so, one good and one bad ain't too terrible. It is a lot of money, though.

I'm glad to hear Alaina can be good. I suppose everyone has off days/weekends. Travis wasn't at this con (I'd have loved to see him), but Ruth was great!

Ha ha, Misha. He said a volunteer backstage was like, "You're not actually going to wear that onstage, are you?" :-D But I think it's a Duran Duran t-shirt, so besides getting to see more of his naked torso (BIGGER HOLES, PLEASE), I was 100% behind his wearing that t-shirt!

[identity profile] jj1564.livejournal.com 2016-03-28 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
BIGGER HOLES PLEASE - oh yes!!

[identity profile] brightly-lit.livejournal.com 2016-03-27 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and note Misha's "Misha for President" button. ;->

[identity profile] jj1564.livejournal.com 2016-03-28 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, I couldn't actually see what his button said, but he'd get my vote!
