The traffic must have been GREAT in y'all's towns today, because it was ALL HERE. AND we had to go to the store twice! Every single time we go to the grocery store near our house, I swear I'll never go back there again (generally we go way out of our way to an area of town we quite enjoy and just have fun listening to music during the drive). Then months pass and I start to think, Aww, how bad could it really be? I was probably just in a sensitive mood that day. I'll give it another shot--it's so close to home! And then I come out of there swearing yet again never to return. CURSE YOU, STORE, TO THE DEPTHS OF HELL! Oh, wait, you ARE the depths of hell; never mind.

So the reason we had to go to the store twice was because that evil store under the incompetent management of Crowley sucks so much we couldn't even find half of what we came for!

But we did FINALLY manage to run our three minor errands--it only took THREE HOURS.

Ahem.

Anyway, how are y'all's days going?

So, did it take you more time to shop nearby because it was awful and had nothing and you had to do it twice? Cos that seriously sucks.

Speaking of depths of hell, it's 5pm and 42C here - 107.6F apparently. Thanks, Google!

Sounds like you're getting all of the Christmas traffic. They have late night shopping tonight - until midnight. And sometime next week they're doing a 36 hour opening or something, all night anyway. In case you need to buy cherries at 3am.

I hope Christmas isn't too stressful, aside from three hour shopping trips, you know. Obviously.

Nah, it took more time because of the GODDAMN TRAFFIC. People, go home! Use Amazon! It's probably because we had an unexpected blizzard yesterday, so people were doing all the stuff today they couldn't yesterday.

Late-night shopping, eh? Just tonight and next week? Oh, at the grocery store? Or stores generally?

Ah, thank you. I hope it isn't too stressful for you, either!

How's it going??

Yeah, I'm sure the blizzard would keep people away. I can't even imagine that from here (as I slowly melt into hot goo). But yeah, people are probably doing their last minute shopping.

A few of the major shopping centres will be opening late - the one near me is one of the largest in SA, and it does late nights over Christmas. So, groceries, and other stores as well.

I think the malls around here have "holiday hours," too, although I think midnight would be later than most would go, but grocery stores are generally 24-hour 'round here ...

Do y'all find songs about "white Christmases" amusing at this time of year?

Christmas songs make so little sense around here. But there are awful 'Aussie Christmas' songs:

I wish we had a white Christmas. I would love snow, and cold, and not to be huddling in front of the air con. I'm scared we're going to have a 40C Christmas this year. Ugh, kill me.

Oh, gahh, that's awful! :-D

Colorado actually doesn't get a lot of snowfall, despite how it's perceived by people who don't live here, but we actually got a white Christmas this year! And yeah, it was really nice, much easier to get into the Christmas spirit. I'm sorry you had to huddle in front of the a/c. <3 Did it at least get below 40 by then?? Adelaide hasn't been in the news for a while now, so it must have finally cooled off??

Adelaide heatwave: state capital is declared the hottest in the world

It was in the 40s yesterday, and again today. And tomorrow and Saturday will also be in the 40s. On Sunday, it's going to be a frosty 30C!

Yikes, you poor dear! It VERY occasionally gets that hot here, but it's a dry heat, so ... well, actually, 107 is still really bad, but as long as it's not humid, even 97 isn't too bad. I'm assuming it's humid since you're on the coast ...?

Actually, South Australia is the driest state in Australia (which itself is the driest continent - the more you know!). So thankfully it's a dry heat here. Some parts of Australia get high humidity - Queensland, for example - but we don't get a whole lot of muggy days. But we still are by the sea - I can walk to the beach in about an hour! It's only maybe 10-15 minutes drive. So beautiful.

Yeah, you guys were all over the news for a while, so I saw lots of pictures of your beautiful seaside. Thank heaven it's not that muggy there even so!

LOL at "oh wait, you ARE the depths of hell." :-P as we discussed, you should have SAID something; I had no idea you didn't enjoy that store experience or those people! ;-)

It's only the 7th or 8th circle, though. If we were to visit park Meadows right around now, that's the 9th. That reminds me-- we need to hit the post office soon...
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

Yes, I was far too quiet about that, I know; there was simply no way to know what I was thinking. ;->

Thank heaven we avoided Park Meadows, but the po was just as fun as you anticipated--twice! :-|
